“Yoga has no boundaries and it is a blessing when we can all connect as one.” – Matsuko Matsumoto, Sage Japanese Yoga Teacher. Matsuko visited her family in Carnegie recently, and we were honoured with her attendance at a Monday class. We remain grateful for her presence, motivated by the authenticity of her practice and inspired the depth of her spirit. Matsuko’s unassuming presence served as a reminder that yoga is a universal language, surpassing geographical barriers and uniting people across cultures worldwide. Regardless of where we are in the world, we can rely on a traditional yoga class to speak to us. No matter the country, society, or local vernacular, we are capable of sharing a sincere approach to the practice, bonding with likeminded people, and feeling at home with ourselves. Practising together reflects our shared love of the teachings, and exposes the heart to boundless honesty and sincerity. The intensity of the Sanskrit vibration transcends the native tongue, and amalgamates the energy of students globally. Yoga speaks to our bodies, minds, hearts and souls. Yoga means union. This ancient wisdom integrates breath with body, heart with mind, and the self with the divine. Yoga is a language unto itself, connecting time and societies all over the world.
