True Wellness of Being
For many Aboriginal people in Australia, ‘True Wellness of Being’ is fundamental to the Dreaming, the Sacred Path and the True Identity. The spiritual understandings are ‘a way of life, a relationship with all that is, a commitment to follow a path of truth while abiding by the laws of nature and being true to oneself’.
Linj’dta – Now is the Moment of Your Being
Presence is deep within every form as our essential nature. When we start living in the now, time melts and our true essence is revealed. Live now, in this moment, for now is the moment of your being. This is where the energy is.
Aildt – Everything Is One
Everything and every person is inextricably linked as part of one creative force, universal soul or vitality known as Aildt. As all thoughts, words, actions, animate and inanimate objects impart their own energy or vibration upon the earth to form the ongoing creation of the world, everything tangible and intangible is ‘one’.
Dtwongdtyen – A Varied Perspective Is the Key to Perception
While your truth and my truth are not the same, each person’s truth is equally valid. Therefore, it is important to respect that someone else’s truth is as valid as your own, as acceptance of a varied perspective is the key to perception.
Adtomon – Truth Is the Path
By living in harmony with our own truth, being true to the universe, true to each other and respecting the interconnectedness of all things, we find the true path of nature, health and wellbeing.
Whilst these traditional words of understanding are copyrighted to Spa Beauty & Wellness, it is interesting to note how clearly they align with the ancient wisdom of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. This wellness of being is reflected in the Integral Yoga expression ‘An Easeful Body, A Peaceful Mind, A Useful Life’ and the diversity of the spiritual path is acknowledged in the adage ‘Truth is One–Paths are Many’.
Headstand – Sirshasana King of the Asanas
Monday 2 April 5:15-5:45pm, $10
Explore the early, middle or later stages of headstand. This asana requires good balance, a strong core, and strength in the upper arms, shoulders and upper back, to minimise the amount of weight being supported by the head. A steady practice of shoulderstand and dolphin is recommended as preparation. To ensure you are well prepared for this session bookings are essential.
Restorative Yoga with Shanthi in Sandringham
Sunday 15 April 3:00-4:15pm, $22/$19 concession
Restorative Yoga focuses on physical and mental relaxation via poses aided by props, enhancing their therapeutic benefits. This gentle empowering session will help you de-stress, re-energise and re-balance. Suitable for people of all levels of fitness and health, including pregnant and postnatal women, those who are managing aches and pains, sleep deprived, or simply wanting to unwind. No prior experience is necessary for this session at Shanthi’s peaceful home studio. Space is limited and bookings are essential.
Compassion Games – Survival of the Kindest
Monday 16 April 6:00-7:30pm, $22/$19 concession or use your class card
To be deep, authentic and long lived, compassion must start with the unification of our entire being. When the mind, body and thoughts are not integrated, we are not present. Conversely, when abundantly connected with ourselves we are able to see others. We will flow through the basic hatha yoga sequence acknowledging that compassion arises from the recognition of the shared human condition.
Chanting with Shanthi and Marie in Sandringham
Sunday 6 May 3:00-4:30pm, $10/$15 families
Enjoyed for thousands of years in many cultures around the world, chanting relaxes and energises the body, quiets the mind, opens the heart, lifts the spirit and connects people of all backgrounds. Everyone is welcome and no chanting or yoga experience is required. This session is at Shanthi’s calm, air-conditioned home studio.
