June 2015

Namaste

The United Nations General Assembly has announced 21 June as International Yoga Day. The resolution declared that “Wider dissemination of information about the benefits of practising yoga would be beneficial for the health of the world population.” The declaration came after an address to the Assembly by Indian Prime Minister Modi, wherein he stated: “Yoga is an invaluable gift… it embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature…” The resolution was co-sponsored by 175 of the 193 member nations across the whole spectrum of the globe, the highest number ever for any general assembly resolution. It was adopted by acclamation without having to take a vote.

Body Programmers – Hatha Yoga – Saturday 6 June 9.00-10.30am, $20/$18 concession or use your class card

Medical research confirms that the endocrine glands are the body programmers for the hormones. These hormones literally make us what we are – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. They govern our physical characteristics, appearance, health, moods, intellectual abilities, sexuality, creativity and motivation in life. These factors contribute to a cycle of imbalance which is challenging to intercept and rebalance. Practising hatha yoga helps, as the postures create balance in the hormone producing glands. We will flow through the basic Integral Yoga sequence emphasising the positive effect of each asana in relation to the specific glands. For further information please contact me.
