February 2014

The purpose of engaging in the yoga practices is to experience the present moment with vim, vigour and vitality! As our attention sharpens, we stay more steadily focussed in each distinct instant. No one lives yesterday or tomorrow. We live now. When fully aware, this particular way of being is beyond method. It is simply being. Eventually all the permeations of yoga bring us to the point of the sheer immensity of being here and now, the only time there is.

 Full Heart-Full Moon! Group Meditation

Saturday 15 February, 10.30-11.00am, $5

Silent meditation calms the mind and exposes the natural peace within. It acts as a clearing and cleansing process leaving us mentally refreshed and relaxed. With practice, we carry this state of mind with us all through our daily life. Allow the energy of the full moon to fill your heart with love and compassion. New and experienced students are welcome. Seating options include chairs, meditation stools and cushions. Please let me know if you plan to come or have any questions.

Note: ‘Discover!’ is the underlying theme of the 2014 Group Meditations. Upcoming topics in this series include Silence in Sound, Positive Thinking and The Active Mind. Future dates to be confirmed.

 Beginners Yoga Workshop

Saturday 22 February, 10.30am-12.00pm, $65/$60 concession includes 4 free classes

This session is for new and returning students who would like to learn the basic poses in a workshop setting. The asanas will be personalised to suit each student in accordance with their particular needs and abilities with opportunities to ask questions and receive individual feedback. Every student will receive a card entitling them to attend 4 free classes from the regular timetable by 31 March. This is an effective way for new students to investigate the flow of the Integral Yoga hatha sequence or to motivate lapsed students to return to regular classes after a long break. Please let your family and friends know about this economical opportunity.

 Full Moon Hatha Yoga

Monday 17 March, 6.00-7.30pm, $20/$18 concession, or use your class card

Be inspired by the energy of the full moon. Increase the ability to open your heart to yourself and to others. The auspicious energy of the full moon and the company of others sharing a similar vision will help facilitate the awareness of the calm and stillness within. Soft candlelight will set a hushed tone. We will flow through the foundational Integral Yoga class with an emphasis on harmonising the practices with the natural qualities of peace associated with the true self. If you have any queries please let me know.

Saturday 22 March, 9.00-10.30am, $20/$18 concession, or use your class pass

We all have particular tendencies and inclinations. Without awareness these patterns can create imbalance. In the hatha yoga class, sometimes our stability or lack thereof is reflected in outcome of our balance poses. Consistent practice makes us sensitive to a deep inner stillness and equilibrium at the core of our being. By becoming sensitive to our habitual predispositions and consciously applying their opposites, we can release ingrained patterns of doing and being, and bring body, mind, and spirit back into union. We will move through the primary Integral Yoga sequence adding extra balancing asanas to help foster equilibrium. Please contact me for further details.

New Enrolment Forms

Many enrolment forms are outdated and it requested that each student complete a new 2014 form which accurately reflects their current state of health and wellbeing. This procedure presents you with an opportunity to take time to reconsider how your physical and emotional health influences your practice of hatha yoga and helps teachers identify appropriate options for individual students. This combined process enriches the benefits of attending hatha yoga classes and associated workshops.

Class Fees

Our rent has more than doubled in recent years and together with an escalation in membership, insurance and sundry costs, this has lead to a slight adjustment to class fees. The teachers strongly feel that we have acted in your best interests by minimising the increase. In return, please commit to regular attendance to avoid future rises and to gain the deeper benefits associated with a consistent practice. From 1 March the charge for a single class will be $20/$18 concession and a 10 class card $180/$165 concession. Cards will remain valid for four months from the purchase date. The concession price is available to pensioners and full time students. Families and anyone experiencing financial hardship will be considered on a personal basis. Please speak to your teacher if you have any queries.

During January the floor was resurfaced and the blankets, bolsters, cushions and mats were cleaned. We provide these items for new students and for others needing some extra support, but please remember that you are encouraged to bring your own mat. Sincere thanks to those of you who do.

 Yoga Mat and Free Magazine

A personal yoga mat forms a functional base for your hatha yoga practice. Individually wrapped mats are available for $30. Colours are blue or purple. These washable 6.2mm mats allow ample padding for floor work, yet provide firm support for standing balances. A back copy of Australia Yoga Journal valued at $7.95 is currently available free with each mat sold. Please ask at class.

May the entire universe be filled with peace and joy, love and light!
